Products for Electrical Applications

Rauschert manufactures ceramic components for electrical systems in which functional reliability and consistent quality are critical. Each product is designed according to the application, material requirements, and series production needs.

Ceramic Fuse Bodies

For Low- and Medium-Voltage Fuses

Ceramic fuse bodies perform key functions in electrical protection systems. They provide reliable insulation, temperature resistance, and mechanical stability.
Rauschert manufactures fuse bodies for various designs and standard requirements.
Typical applications: NH, LV, MV, DIN (D, D0) and British Standard fuses
Typical materials: steatite, cordierite, porcelain and aluminium silicate, depending on the fuse type
Suitable for: high dielectric strength, thermal shock resistance and dimensionally accurate series production

Designed for automated processes: Our dimensionally accurate series components support reliable assembly and downstream processing on automated production lines.

Our product range includes ceramic fuse bodies for low-voltage, medium-voltage and high-current applications. These include NH fuse bodies in the standard types NH000, NH00, NH0, NH1, NH2, NH3 and NH4 as well as special types, such as high-speed fuses.

Depending on the design and requirements, Rauschert manufactures fuse bodies by dry pressing or extrusion.

LV bodies are available in the standard sizes CH8, CH10, CH14 and CH22, and are manufactured as cylindrical tubular bodies. We produce these high-quality fuse bodies at three sites in quantities running into millions of units per year. In addition, we offer a wide range of customised special types.
For DIN fuse systems, Rauschert manufactures fuse bodies for the D and D0 systems as well as matching screw caps and fuse bases on request.

Fuse bodies according to British Standard can also be manufactured based on suitable ceramic formulations.

Insulating bodies for switchgear

for rialable insulation

Ceramic insulating bodies are used in switching technology and high-voltage applications when electrical and thermal loads must be permanently controlled. They support safe separation, insulation and stability in demanding electrical systems.

Typical applications: high-performance switches, spark chambers, power distribution, railway technology
Typical materials: zirconium silicate and other ceramic materials according to requirements
Suitable for: electrical insulation, temperature resistance, long-term stability
Rauschert has developed an insulating ceramic made from zirconium silicate for spark chambers and high-performance switches and uses it to manufacture customised components for switching technology.

Supports for Heating Conductors/Resistors

For stable positioning and electrical separation

Ceramic support bodies are used when electrical conductors need to be safely guided, separated or mechanically stabilised. They combine electrical insulation with temperature resistance and dimensional stability. Typical areas of application include resistors, heating conductors and industrial heating systems.
Typical applications: electrical resistors, heating conductors, industrial heating systems Heizsysteme
Typical materials: steatite, cordierite, porcelain, aluminium silicate
Suitable for: electrical insulation, dimensional and form stability, mechanical strength, and thermal load capacity

FAQ

What are electrotechnical ceramics?
Electrotechnical ceramics comprise technical ceramic materials and components used in electrical engineering applications for electrical insulation, high-temperature resistance, and mechanical stability. They include shaped ceramic components such as fuse bodies, insulating bodies, support parts, and components for switching and heating technology.

What is the difference compared with crushable ceramic materials?
The term electrotechnical ceramics refers to shaped ceramic components. Crushable ceramic materials, by contrast, are used as ceramic filling and insulating materials, for example in cartridge heaters, thermocouples or mineral-insulated cables.

What are ceramic fuse bodies used for?
Ceramic fuse bodies are used in low-voltage, medium-voltage and high-current protection systems where electrical insulation, temperature resistance and mechanical stability are required.

Can Rauschert manufacture customer-specific ceramic components, or only standard components?
Rauschert manufactures both proven standard components and customer-specific ceramic components for electrotechnical applications.

Which requirements determine material selection?
The decisive criteria are reliable electrical insulation, high-temperature and thermal-shock resistance, mechanical stability, precise dimensional accuracy and suitability for series production. Steatite is the optimum choice for standard components with typical requirements.
Cordierite is used for applications subject to pronounced thermal shock loads, while aluminosilicates are used where high resistance to internal pressure is required.
